Mind Tools for ekit

Another technology that could be used with my ekit lesson could be Google earth and Sketchup.  Obviously the teacher would need show how to use both the Google Earth and Sketchup.  Once the students knew the basics of both programs then we could drive into the lesson.
In learning the theory about the time of the Harlem Renaissance, the students could get on Google Earth and look at Harlem now and as far back as the satellites have pics.  We could talk about what it meant to live there and how Harlem played a role in what Langston Hughes wrote in his poetry.  Then I would have the students build their version of Harlem during Harlem Renaissance.  Also the students would need to explain why they picked and made the structures.  The objective would be that the students not only understand the poems but use their own thoughts to interpret what Langston Hughes.
